what to expect at your first appointment:

  • Please fill out all of the paperwork ahead of time (it will have been sent to your email before your appointment). If you are unable to fill it out ahead of time, please arrive 15-20 mins before your scheduled appointment to fill it out in clinic.

  • Other things to consider beforehand:

    • make sure to eat something ahead of time (find the sweet spot between not-too-full and not-too-hungry)

    • try to avoid caffeine for a few hours before your appointment

    • bring a list of medications/supplements you are taking (unless you already listed them on your intake paperwork) as well as any relevant diagnostic imaging or other relevant medical records (if you have them)

  • When you arrive for your appointment, we will bring you into the treatment room where we will chat about what brings you into clinic. We may also perform some orthopedic testing &/or other diagnostic testing.

  • At this point, you may be asked to undress to your comfort level. For individual acupuncture, you will have the opportunity to undress in private and get onto a massage table which will have sheets for draping. For group acupuncture, you will not undress fully, though we may expose certain areas for treatment e.g. low back or shoulder.

  • The practitioner will come in and talk over the treatment with you before performing any acupuncture, cupping, etc. One you have given verbal consent, we will move forward with treatment.

  • Treatments can last anywhere from 20 minutes to 40 minutes, some of which time the practitioner has left you in the room to relax with the acupuncture pins in. (You will be given a buzzer in case you need to call the practitioner into the room for anything)

  • The practitioner will return to the room, remove the pins, perform any final treatments, then leave the room for you to dress.

  • You will meet the practitioner at the front desk for payment and to schedule another appointment, if indicated.
